What’s Next After The Masters?

Alright, it’s officially been a couple weeks since Augusta, and first things first. Shoutout to Justin Thomas for grabbing the win at the RBC this past weekend. It’s good to see JT back on top of the leaderboard.

Now, let’s dive into a little reflection on my Masters Scorecard Analysis. I’ve had some time to step back and look at what worked, what didn’t, and how this project shifted the way I watched the tournament.

Starting with the Good:

  • Rory. Was. Him.
No matter which angle I ran the analysis from, it kept pointing back to Rory. It truly felt like his tournament to lose….and he didn’t. Finally claiming the Green Jacket was the moment, and this analysis helped validate what I already felt in my gut.
  • Corey Conners lived up to the sneaky pick title. He was in the mix all week until the wheels came off on Sunday…still, the numbers put him in the conversation, and they weren’t wrong.
  • I had 3 of the final Top 10 players in my original predictions — I’ll take that.

Now for the Misses:

  • The big swing and miss?
All three of the names I projected to miss the cut… made the cut. Yep. That includes Ludvig, and man, he was Ludvig. Sometimes the stars rise despite what the numbers say.
  • Guys like Thomas Detry and Stephen Jaeger showed up high in my model based purely on stats — they didn’t make a splash, but I still stand by what the data showed.

So, What Would I Change?

Honestly? Nothing.
This was never about changing the future. It was about changing the way I watched the tournament. And it worked. I found myself following different names, rooting for guys I wouldn’t normally think twice about, and seeing storylines unfold through the lens of the numbers.

This was a passion project turned into a new way of engaging with the game.

What’s Next?

I’m not done. I’ll be building out Player Profiles to help shape my analysis for non-majors. The goal? Keep finding fresh ways to look at the leaderboard..
