Welcome To Pin Seeker
What happens when a golf fan with a day job in data starts asking questions about birdies, trends, and Augusta National? Pin Seeker Analytics is born. In this kickoff post, I break down why I’m launching this blog, what you can expect during Masters Week.

A Masters To Remember
Rory McIlroy finally did it. On a chaotic, emotional, unforgettable Masters Sunday, he completed the career Grand Slam—bouncing back from an opening double bogey, surviving a rollercoaster round, and sealing it with a near-flawless playoff finish. This wasn’t dominance—it was grit. It was heart. And it was exactly what makes Augusta National the greatest stage in golf.

Golf Is Hard. Watching It Should Be Easy
I’m Cayston, and Pin Seeker Analytics is my little personal amen corner of the internet where golf meets data in a way that’s hopefully smart, occasionally insightful, and always just a little bit ridiculous (because, let’s face it — so is golf).
This isn’t a place for secret betting models, the next industry breakthrough, or promises of guaranteed winners. I’m not here to predict every birdie to cash in the next parlay (if I could, I’d be retired and golfing full time).
What I am here to do is something a bit more down-to-earth: track the game in a unique way, find patterns, tell stories, and have a little fun while doing it.
PinSeeker is about exploring golf through a different lens — one built on curiosity, stats, gut feelings, and maybe a questionable spreadsheet or two. Whether it’s diving into trends ahead of a major, building player profiles, or just keeping tabs on who’s hot (and who’s three-putting for fun), the goal is simple: make the game a little more interesting and a lot more enjoyable.
If you love golf, have a soft spot for data, and don’t mind a few sarcastic side comments along the way — welcome.
